Coalition Agreement Israel

Yisrael Beiteinu, led by Avigdor Lieberman, called for the establishment of a secular unity government composed of himself, the Likud and the Blue and White, which would explicitly exclude Netanyahu`s right-wing and religious allies. Such dramatic changes forced the Israeli Supreme Court to intervene and, on May 6, it paved the way for the coalition government to move forward. After the court`s vote, the Knesset voted on May 7 to amend the basic laws, Israel`s quasi-constitution, which allows the coalition government to take office. The new government, which has 36 cabinet ministers, was sworn in on Sunday, May 17. The coalition agreement signed by Likud and Kachol Lavan expressly overrides the fact that the unilateral annexation of West Bank territory and the application of Israeli sovereignty to West Bank settlements begins on July 1.
